Question : Problem: Server 2003 & NTBackup

Hi,
A new client has a Windows Server 2003 server running a small domain. The ntbackup utility is used to backup to a Seagate Travan 40GB tape drive. Only I found that the while the client has been changing the tapes daily, the backup has been failing with the message "Cannot locate the specified media or backup device. This backup operation will terminate." logged.

To make a long story short, I successfully got a backup to run on a tape which I erased. However, when a tape that is not erased is loaded, the backup fails with the above message logged, even if it was a tape media created by the same backup job that is attempting to run.

Here is the syntax of the backup job:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\Daily Backup.bks" /n "Weekday" /d "Weekday" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal /j "Daily" /l:f /p "Travan"

I selected the option to overwrite media in NTBackup, but it does not seem to be working as intended.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Bill
