Question : Problem: Error browsing network machines from windows mobile 5 device
|
|
I have a Dell Axim X51v Windows mobile 5 device connected to my wireless network. I know the connection to the wireless router is fine because it quite happily loads web pages.
I can also ping the other machines on the network (two xp machines and a win2003r2 machine) and they can ping the device back.
Heres the problem, I can't browse any of the (shared) folders on the other machines from the device (using \\machinename or ip address) in windows explorer, when i try i get an error: "The network path was not found". Quickly followed by "Network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network".
Note the other machines on the network can browse each other
I once had a win ce device which allowed me to enter a username, password and domain within settings but i cant seem to see anything similar in win mobile 5, which im guessing may be the problem?
Any suggestions appreciated.

COrrect, you will need permissions to do this.
Not sure that WM5 has this.
DO you have a Net command as in
net use x: .....
where you can map a drive.
Also see if you can join a Domain rather than be in a workgroup.
DId yo check the Help ?
I hope this helps !
