Question : Problem: using tar with sun L9 library

Is the Sun L9 tape library controllable via tar, cpio? we have a need to do some quick backups, the only device we have is a SUN L9, any other options besides pay software backup exec, Computer Associates' ARCserveIT Version 6.61, Tivoli and Legato? I have the L9 and I need to start using. backing up solaris, unix.

You would have to use the "mt" command, not CPIO with your L9.
