Question : Problem: Windows 2003 Server hangs when an external USB backup drive attached

HP ML350 running Win2k3 Server hangs when I attached a HP73gb USB DAT backup tape drive. Boots as far as the drive discovery section then just sits on a black screen with attempting to boot from cd displayed in the top left corner. I'm assuming that the USB controller is USB 1.0 and the HP DAT drive is 2.0. Any suggestions how to work around this?

i would try installing a usb 2 card. doesnt cost much, and will greatly increase throughput.

Also make sure the drive firmware is up to date.
