Question : Problem: Datbase Hardware Recommendation for MSSQL 2005 + SharePoint

I need a recommendation for server hardware based on running MSSQL 2005 and SharePoint 2007.  We will have 3 web front ends + 1 Index server and 1 DB server.  I need help generating specifications for the MSSQL 2005 server.

We will have a local client count of approximately 700 that will grow to 2000 users in the next 4 years.  The profile of the users is average collaboration.  We expect that the content database will not grow above 150 gigs.  Currently it is at 60 gigs.  

I am looking for advice on processor, Memory, HD arrays, manufacture, models... etc..

HP have a sizing tool that will help you - you may have to create a free account to download it. Whether you use it to buy HP or the equivalent from IBM doesn't matter much. You could even get an equivalent Dell although their management tools are always a couple of years behind HP's.
