8 beeps on startup when using Ami BIOS means that it has failed the display memory R/W test.

Therefore, if you have a graphics card it may be faulty, otherwise the video chip on the motherboard be be at fault.

Try booting in safe mode (assuming you're using Win95) without the graphics card if you have one to see if it recurs to help determine the root cause.
