Question : Problem: Using Ramdisk for .temp & .tmp files
|
|
Win.XP.Home P4.1.6 256mb DDR Ram.
I consider redirecting .temp & .tmp files to ramdisk so will automatically be deleted when power-down. I don't gaming or much video so have spare ram. I will need know how big ramdisk to make. I know not redirect Win .temp files as may be required at boot-up.
Appreciate all advice

I don't think a ramdisk will be big enough. First, you need to keep a eye on how big these files get on your HD. Hard to do as most program delete them when done. Second, XP is a ram hog and 256meg does not leave you much room to setup a ramdisk without interfering with XP's operation. Third, it would probably be easier to set the TASK MANAGER to delete them on exit or every so often. Or a third party utilitiy
