Question : Problem: Installed a Sata card to control a DVD Burner - Can no longer boot from Primary IDE
|
|
Asus p4B266 Motherboard with WIndows XP machine with an IDE hard drive and an IDE CD Rom
I added a Sata card (Sil 3512A) for a new DVD Burner.
If I have the Sata cable plugged from the Sata Card to the Sata DVD/RW then my bootup tells me "unable to find boot disk..press any key"
As soon as I disconnect the Sata cable, and reboot then it's fine..it boots off my Primary IDE drive just like I want it to ... goes into XP Pro..detected my Sata card..I loaded it's drivers..etc..
I have the boot priority set to boot from the Primary IDE drive first....

You will need to change boot order in bios first, set to boot from IDE drive, not from Sata PCI card.
