Question : Problem: Backup library to Portable Hard drive?
|
|
iTunes gives me the option of burning a backup of my library/purchases to a CD or DVD, but I have 60+ gigs of stuff to back up. Is it possible to back up to a portable hard drive instead?

You don't need ANY special software to backup your iTunes Library.
An external HD is all you need.
1. If all your music is Consolidated inside your My Documents/My Music/iTunes folder then you simply copy this folder to your external drive. This will copy all the music and the XML, settings and other associated files.
2. If your music folders are located in different places on your HD. Then you might want to consider something like YamiPod or TouchCopy to gather the music for Backup .. or alternatively .. run Consolidate in iTunes and this will copy ALL music into the iTunes music folder .. making backup MUCH simpler.
