Question : Problem: Upgrading Power Supply
i have a dell optiplex gx270 mid tower computer. It came with a 250w power supply. I wanted to add a better video card, but most video cards now require a 350w power supply or greater. The card i got also requires a 350w power supply. I called dell, and they told me that a 250w is the highest i can buy from them for this computer. I was wondering if there are any power supplies out there that i can fit into the dell proprietary case without having to modify the case thats 350w or greater. Or even if i buy a power supply and modify the case a little so it fits, will or can that damage any of the components in the computer like the motherboard or hard drives in any way if i put a power supply greater than 250w? Any recommendations?

Here's one that says its compatible with the Optiplex GX270. Just click on the "MB compatibility" tab to see the GX270 listed http://www.pcpower.com/power-supply/silencer-410-dell-2.html I sugest you talk to them first and discuss which model of case it will fit.
