Question : Problem: Split Pair Wiring at 10Mbps

I ran into a situation where a building had been wired already.   When I tested the line, which was a direct line from the drop to the server room, it returned a 'Split Pair' indication.  All 8 internal wires were being used, per drop.  The client machines would only connect at 10Mbps.  Any idea why the previous company would have wired this way?

Answer : Problem: Split Pair Wiring at 10Mbps

Probably cable termination on both ends, did not match.
As long , if there is no issue with cable (nomore than 150 Feet, stretch, bend too much) should be no problem to achive 100.
You can mesure real speed accross diffrent type of connection PC-to-Pc using Iperf 2.0.2 installer for Windows from
http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/   look for kperf_setup.exe
It will be no more than 80% of stated 100Mbps or 1GB, and can give you quick idea , where is problem
