Question : Problem: Problems with Optical Drives & blank CDs after reformat

Hey Experts:

I have 2 optical drives on my computer, an ASUS DVD-E616A and an HP DVD Writer 840b. I have had great success with these drives over the past 2ish years. Recently, however, I reformatted my computer. Ever since then, my optical drives have been unable to access blank CDs. It's weird because normal CDs (game discs, music CDs, etc) work just fine, but when I insert a blank disc, the drive tells me that there's no CD in the bay.

Needless to say, the result is that I am no longer able to burn CDs.

I seriously doubt that it's a hardware problem (the fact that they both developed the same problem right after I reformatted, coupled with the fact that they still read "normal" CDs, makes that seem unlikely)

I have updated all my drivers.

What could be the problem???
