Question : Problem: Combined Keyboard and Mouse one PS/2 input Port

I just acquired an old Sony Vaio PCV-L630 desktop without keyboard/mouse. Sony shipped these with a keyboard that plugs into one PS/2 port and the mouse plugging into the keyboard module on the right or left side.  Sony hasn't responded to my request to buy such a object from them. Does anyone know where I can buy an inexpensive keyboard/mouse  that uses just one output PS/2 cord or should I just use a standard keyboard plus a USB connected mouse? Also are the new LCD monitors compatible with the LCD output connector on the PCV-L630?

Answer : Problem: Combined Keyboard and Mouse one PS/2 input Port

hi mrl,
your keaboard is:
VAIO Smart Convertible Keyboard
+ wheel mouse
so if you want to buy this right keyboard you must probably seek for it at eBay ,otherwise follow the suggestion from Jeremy-Kitching,,,,
links:
your sony bundle:  http://esupport.sony.com/perl/modelpage.pl?template=EN&mdl=PCVL630&session_id=65e6c8cdbed72c8d11cf88aaddbb4349

your manuals: http://www.iq.sony.com/srvs/sosdocs/default.asp?src=sonysupport  ,search for PCVL630
the user manual: PCVL630.PDF( Computer User Guide (primary manual) )  ,,,
so according to this manual - page 12:
"...
LCD MONITOR connector
Connects the LCD that comes with the VAIO Slimtop LCD computer.
Note: Do not connect any display to this connector other than the LCD
that is supplied with this system.
..."
i found you have also a plug for a standard crt display - better use this vga out,,,
also there is an another file pcvl630.pdf (Marketing Specifications):
see too http://jack.zhu.home.comcast.net/pcvl630.pdf ,,,

so your onboard gpu is :
2X AGP 3D graphics hardware acceleration
(ATi Rage™ 128 Pro 4XL) with Video RAM 8 MB SDRAM ,,,
i think you can find a better pci gpu card with 32 mb and assuming you have already disabled the onboard gpu ,,,attach a normal crt display to the sony bundle using this more powerful graphic card,,,
beware:: check first your pci version before you atted buying the pci graphic card!!!
if you have pci 2.0 then you need such compliant card
if you have pci v.2.1 then at least you'll find much easier such compliant card ,,,,
download sisoft sandra 2005 ,install it and run the: pci, agp, cardbus information wizard, thus you'll find out what really your pci version is,,,,
