Question : Problem: Ultrasonic Sound recording

Who knows of either software or hardware available for sale that can help analize (record, display, examine) high frequency soundwaves?  I'm looking for a device that could plug into a PCI/ISA/USB Port and record high frequency sounds (not audiable by human ears).  I would also like to find a way to convert the high frequency sounds to a level audiable with human ears.  So If the microphone picked up a 30000hz sound wave, the computer would reduce it by a factor like 2000 so It could be detected.  Anyone with expierance or helpful hints?
