Question : Problem: How to update firmware?

On a 4550 Color Laserjet Printer I keep getting error 49.4401 errors. So I did a manual reset of memory by holding down the Menu button exc. Now I get error 49.FF04.

Google says to upgrade the firmware or replace the Firmware DIMM in slot 3. I have the manual. I would like to try and upgrade the Firmware first. The HP Webside said download the JetDirect tool to do this? After I register and do this how do I use it? Does it need to be installed on the computer where the share is located? Or can I just put the Printer IP in a web address and go from there?

My personal preference has always been to use the Web interface on HP network printers.
If you haven't yet tried it, go ahead and browse around in there.
It just seems so much easier to manage them from a web interface.
