Question : Problem: Compare Trendnet and Netgrear network switches

I need to get a ethernet switch with >= 8 ports
(Currently I have a Netgear 5 port)

I see these:

Netgear GS608 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch: ($60)

Trendnet TEG-S8 8-PORT 10 100 1000MBPS GIGABIT AUTO-MDIX SWITCH ($42)
http://www.etech4sale.com/TRENDNET_TEG-S8_8-PORT_10_100_1000MBPS/TEG-S8/partinfo-id-318309.html

The Trendnet is $18 less for seemingly the same thing.
Is there any reason to go with the more expensive Netgear?

Answer : Problem: Compare Trendnet and Netgrear network switches

Switching equipment is basically the same,  they are all pretty much reliable, to some extent.  when you talk about these very low end devices as you listed above, the only thing i would say is what interface are you comfortable with.  Certain people feel comfortable with certain web interfaces, GUI's)  but the basic functions of the switch work the same in all.  teh only reason to go wiht a known name is just that.  a known name or more of an "industry standard"  and usually better tech support
