Question : Problem: raid 1+0
ok im very new to raid, we have 2 drives setup on riad 1+0 which to me is setup as mirrored, 1 of the drives has failed, if i take it out and place it back in it rebuilds itself for a day or so then fails again. my probelm is the drives i have are 36.4 gb which im having trouble to get hold of now ,
do i need the exact part number for the raid to work?
can i replace the drive with a larger drive, let it rebuild itself then swap the other aswell to a larger drive aswell
would that work?
i dont want to be taking this server offline with it being 1 of the main ones.
thanks
Answer : Problem: raid 1+0
Raid 1+0 or RAID 10 is mirror plus stripe. Minimum 4 disks. By definition this can't be done with two disks. Raid 0 is striped, 1 is mirrored. Work out what you want and set it up correctly. Make sure your data is backed up.
