Question : Problem: How to Get emails on my iPhone from my SBS 2003
|
|
Hi,
We have a SBS 2003 and a linksys BEFSX41 firewall and I want to be able to (a) receive and if possible (b) send emails to/from the iPhone. I want to set it up in a way in which the username/pw "travel" in a secure way. I don't know anything about certificates, but all I can tell you is that 1. we have a domain, which interally is called (let's say) TEKIN 2. We have 4 external domains that all end up in our server. In other words, if you send an email to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]. they all go to the same mailbox. 3. We access emails remotely by opening a browser and entering https:mail.domain2.com, which presents to us the Remote Web Workplace. 4. We send out emails using the Small Busines Server SMTP server which relays to no-ip.com using a username & pw.
Please, in your answer, don't assume I understand IMAP/POP3/SMTP, or where to configure them, so your details will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, create the test account to test regular IMAP port 143 first. Make sure you have IMAP working properly first before securing it.
You would need a UCC certificate only if you have multiple domains. Most SSL certificate profiders will offer instructions on how to install. RapidSSL does here: http://www.rapidssl.com/ssl-certificate-support/install-ssl-certificate/index.htm Here is another good tutorial: http://msmvps.com/blogs/bradley/archive/2007/10/14/to-get-an-iphone-to-connect-to-a-sbs-box.aspx I don;t work for Apple or Startcom, so I cannot tell you if this certificate is ssupported or not. You could ask Startcom before buying it. Versign, Thawte, and Godaddy standard SSL certificates should work fine.
