Question : Problem: Wireless connection dropping between iPhone 1.1.4 and Dell Latitude D610
|

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to create a wireless ad-hoc network between a Dell Latitude D610 laptop and an iPhone (firmware version 1.1.4). The laptop has Windows XP SP2 with an onboard wireless card (1350 WLAN Mini-PCI). I can get the network established but after approximately 10-15 seconds the connection between both devices is lost and I have to manually reconnect. This behaviour continues and I've been unable to keep both devices connected for any reasonable period of time.
When I do get a connection, I can ping the iPhone from the laptop and when I do a ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t I can see a pattern whereby every 6th/7th ping timeouts or takes an excessive amount of time while the other pings are returned in 2/3ms
When I have access to a public WiFi point the iPhone is fine and does not loose a connection. I have messed around with wireless card settings on the laptop, changing channels number etc but to no avail. I'm wondering is there some kind of incompatibility between the Dell wireless card and the iPhone?
Would be most grateful for any help that you can offer.
Thanks.

At long last, I had success resolving this issue and can now get laptop and iPhone communicating wirelessly on a ad-hoc netork without the connetion dropping as experienced before.
I installed the latest drivers for the WLAN card but still experienced the same issue when creating the network via the Windows Create ad-hoc network option. Instead, I disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration Service and manually setup the network using the Dell Wireless Configuration utility in Control Panel. Has been working fine since!
Thanks.
