Question : Problem: DG45FC > display artifacts & freezes > auto shutdown/reset > need help

Hello,

I have been struggling for 2 weeks with the DG45FC board in my HFX micro M2 HTPC. After a fresh reboot Vista will run a few minutes and freeze with colored artifacts all over the display. After a few seconds the system will hard shutdown itself and auto boot again.

Here my HTPC components:

- Case: mCubed HFX micro M2
- Mobo: Intel DG45FC with latest drivers and Bios (0089)
- CPU: Intel E5200
- RAM: 2x 2GB Kingston VLP 800Mhz
- HDD: 2.5" Sata 320GB hard drive
- DVD drive: BC5600S
- Delock Firewire adapter
- TV card: Digital-Everywhere DVB-S2
- PicoPSU 140W
- OS: Vista32 Ultimate SP1
- Software: PowerDVD 8 Ultra, DVBviewer Pro

I have reinstalled Vista 3 times (using 2 different media CD), I have tried it with XP Pro (issue happens less often) but I have never had the system running more than 3 hours without the artifact/freeze and system shutdown/reset. The first crash after a fresh OS install will result in the system freezing already every few minutes.

I really need some help to be able to use my system properly. Currently I do not know how to resolve it.

Could it be a hardware issue? Mobo failure? HDD failure? RAM failure? Power Supply failure? How can I test it?

I appreciate your help...

THX

Sounds like motherboard failure - at least the graphics distortion - the motherboard in these has an integrated graphics chipset

Does it look anything like one of these? http://www.playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html

I would suggest you return the box if under warranty
