Question : Problem: ASUS MP8300 notebook password lock in setup
my gal brings me an ASUS MP8300-M notebook and a pack of win2000 pro , and asks me to install a win2k for her. However, the setup is password protected. I cant make it boot from CD-ROM. Apart from removing all the screws and reset the BIOS , what can i do? given no floppy drive, no bootable OS running within.
regards, Spud

One of the covers (probably on the bottom of the notebook) most likely reveals the memory and CMOS battery. Remove the coin shaped battery (note it's orientation) and leave it out for an hour. Your password should clear. You will need to reset the rest of your BIOS setup selections, as they will also be lost.
