Question : Problem: PCI Express 8x in a slot 16x

I have a PCI Express 8x board (SAS Interface to connect a backup drive), and I want to know if I can plug in a PCI Express 16x slot.

I have a motherboard with 3 PCI express 16x Slot (I think two for video, and one for another kind of boards) the mother board is ASUS P5Q Deluxe:

Answer : Problem: PCI Express 8x in a slot 16x

it is possible to install a PCI Express 8x card in a PCI Express 16x slot! These are downwards compatible! I have a card 8x on a 16x PCI Express slot.
