Question : Problem: Need to update an ASUS A8M2N-LA Bios

Heres a good one for you guys. I need to update an A8M2N-LA motherboard bios that goes in an HP a1737c. The system will not boot, or restore, or load vista from disc, etc due to a harware issue."A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down due to hardware issue" blah, blah,blah.
I've eliminated everything down to the mobo which has probably failed. But anyway, the hp website says a bios update may resolve this issue, heres the catch 22 the bios update they offer is a windows based exe bios update that wont work if you cant get windows to boot and I cant find a DOS bios update for this mobo anywhere, if I cant get this done I'll probably have to ditch the mobo, maybe the whole system, does anyone know how to extract the files form that windows based bios update and then how would I be able to install them from a dos prompt.
