Question : Problem: Can't boot pc with Silicon Image SATA card
I have set up and old machine to serve as a server/NAS. All components work ok, but recently I got a Sillicon Image SATA adapter and attached two Samsung 500GB drives to create a raid-1 array of disks. Finally I have a old IDE 20gb drive to boot the OS, since I suspected nothing could be booted from the SATA drives. My old motherboard, a QDI Legend Kudoz 7, doesn`t have any SATA settings in the bios.
The problem is that if I install Windows in the IDE drive, and boot from it, everything works. The moment I plug the SATA adapter and the sata drives to it, the boot sequence hangs at "verifying DMI pool data ----- success." The moment I remove the SATA card, Windows boots normally.
Additionally, if i plug the sata card but without the sata drives, the boot sequence is successful, and the IDE drive boots XP normally. With Windows on, i can hot-plug the sata drives and access them!!! So, I guess everything works, but not together and in the way I want. I am suspecting there is a conflict with the motherboard BIOS and the SATA SIL card, which does not allow to pass the boot sequence.
My goal is later to install FreeNas in the IDE drive and boot from it. But I need to be able to boot with the SATA drives plugged to make them work in my NAS configuration.

Also, do you have the latest BIOS version for that Mobo?
