Question : Problem: No access to BIOS - Unresponsive to Keyboard

I am attempting repair of eMachine Mod T2895 with MS6714 v-1 motherboard. This board appeared to me to be most similar to MIS 845GVM-L
I replaced bad motherboard with used motherboard purchased on ebay.

Board sent to me was advertised as MIS 845GVM-V
Actual board received is used MIS 845GLM Combo (MS6771 v-1)

Note: Keyboard on my computer is known good PS/2 keyboard.

After checking specs, The "new" (used) board would appear to meet my needs and I installed the "new" board in my computer.
Upon startup, the computer briefly shows an MSI image flash screen noting at the bottom "Press Tab to Post - Press Delete to enter setup, ".  Pressing Delete or Tab does nothing.

Then a screen briefly says "Realtek Boot Agent press Alt+ F10 to configure" pressing Alt+F10 does nothing.

Computerdoes not give the beep of a successful post.

Any action stops and the following screen is presented:

(begin screen)
American Megatrends released 8/31/2003
Intel Celeron 2.80 GHz  (correctly identifies the CPU)
Delete: Setup, F11: BootMenu, F12: Network Boot  (pressing Delet,F10, or F11 does nothing.
CMOS settings wrong (or alternatively) CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad
Press F1 to run setup  (pressing F1 does nothing)
Press F2 to load default values and continue.   (pressing F2 does nothing)
American Megatrends Inc.
63-1000-001169-00101111-040201-845GE/PE-16771000-
(end screen)

I have cleared the BIOS using the jumper and replaced the jumper on usual pins
I have removed all periferals except the keyboard and tried startup with the same results as above.
I have plugged the periferals back and tried to boot from the floppy drive with MS-DOS Boot disk. (doesn't)
Followed MSI web site instructions to "download appropriate BIOS file and then rename it AMIBOOT.ROM and place on a floppy disk.  Then startup system with floppy on place and holding Control+ Home 'to force update'".  All I get is same screen as above.

It appears that the BIOS does not see the keyboard as no entries from the keyboard have any effect.

Any other explanations? Anything else I can try?

Has it occurred to you that maybe the board you got was a lemon?  What guarantee do you have that the seller wasn't trying to dump defective merchandise?  Resetting the BIOS to default settings should work; try replacing the battery.  If that doesn't work, I would guess that the board is has a bad BIOS.
