Question : Problem: Advent 9107 Install issues driving me mad

Kept getting a BSOD on boot about an INVALID_LICENCE_FILE
Thats not the exact message just what i can remember.

So i backed up everything and tried to reload windows.

Now i get various different BSOD at various points during the windows setup.

Some seem to point to memory being at fault but i have swapped out the memory once already to test it and it made no difference.

I dont have the advent restore discs so have been using a standard Windows xp home OEM Sp2 disc have never even got a far as the point you enter your key in so its not that im using the wrong key.

I have found i can get further if i disable the APIC in the BIOS but not by much ( went from crashing before the timer came up during setup to after that)

Wanted to update the bios and see if that would help at all but the board is a asus p5sd2-tm/s which doesnt exist according to the asus site.

So far i have..
Reset the BIOS Defaults.
REmoved all devices except hdd, cdrom, cpu, memory and VGA.
Tried installing to install to IDE hdd instead of the SATA one.
Different memory.
A different version of windows (WINDOWS CP PRO OEM SP2)
Different VGA Card (Getting deperate at this point.)

As you can guess this is driving me crazy as i like to think i know what i doing but nothing seems to sort this out.

BTW i have wipe the hdd after each change and started again.
Have tried both a quick and a normal wipe.

Any surgestions would be greatly appriciated.

Going quietly mad
Richard

Failures to install OS'es are typically RAM problems.  If you replaced the modules with ones that you know work, the problem is likely in the motherboard.
