Question : Problem: sync Blackberry with new iMac using bluetooth or using cable?
|
|
I am getting ready to set up a brand new iMac system with Leopard OSX 10.5. Also have a Blackberry 8830. Have purchased the .Mac (dot-mac) account because it looks this this will come in handy. What's the best way to set up the BB to sync with Entourage? Is there a way to use IMAP in conjunction with .Mac in order to keep the BB, iMac and .Mac all synced in real time including email folders, contacts and calendar?
What is the best way to sync the BB directly with the computer (for back up of personal settings, etc)? Is it possible to go wireless and do this using the iMac's built in Bluetooth? I understand that there is a program called iSync but I don't know anything about it...currently using PC.

When using the Mac OS you can use the free PocketMac application or purchase "The Missing Sync for BlackBerry" to sync you calendar, contacts etc.
The free version is available here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=FFFDC2EA1178B120ED0F90D06EB6737C
Or you can find more info about The Missing Sync here: http://www.markspace.com/leopard.html
In regards to getting your email to your BlackBerry device you need to add a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) plan to your account. Once you have added the plan you can go to your service providers BIS website and setup your .Mac acccount.
