Question : Problem: WIndows cannot see free space after shrinking the HDD?

I am trying to upgrade a basic disk to dynamic in SBS2000, I didnt have enought free space at the end of the disk.  I used a utility called gparted to shrink the boot partition and free up space at the end of the disk.  However when windows boots it cannot see the free space and hence still no dynamic disk due to lack of free space?

Brief History:
Server upgraded with 2 new ide 160Gb disks, same model.
Ghosted original HDD 40Gb and rebuilt on the new disk,  Works fine.
Now need to mirror both disks but can't?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
