Question : Problem: Cd not recognized on Toshiba Portege 7020 CT

Hi,

I have an Toshiba Portege 7020CT. All of the peripherals on this computer are external  It has a dock, a floppy, and a cdrom. The computer will not recongnize the cdrom it tells me that their is no cd present.

I changed the cd to another that I know works and the same results. When I attached a usb cd the same results. I need the cd to work so I can install a operating system.

Any hints on what I have to do to get this unit to recognize the cd. BTW I have tried getting into the bios but none of the usual methods seem to work. I am new to Toshiba.

Any help would be appreciated.

I thnk the "Esc" key should get you into the BIOS.
It's a while since I worked on a Tosh, but after a lot of grief trying to get it to recognise the CDROM drive, I updated the BIOS and all was well, so I suggest you update the BIOS to the latest version from Toshiba's web site and see if that solves your problem.
