Question : Problem: Hardware RAID 1 on linux (centOS 5)

Hello,
I have a question about RAID 1.
As before, I installed linux (centOS 5) with hardware RAID 1 with two harddisks. As two harddisk is running on mirroring.
What will happen if one of harddisk is fail?
What signal will alert me one of harddisk was fail? Will the linux keep running smoothly? After I replace the failed harddisk by a new one is everythings go fine?

Answer : Problem: Hardware RAID 1 on linux (centOS 5)

you need to see if the raid h/w has management s/w that can be installed on centos that can give you monitoring feature.

If one disk fails the system will continue to run. regarding replacing faulty disk, you need to refer to the documentation that comes with the controller to see how it can be done. It is recommended to have full backup of your system before attempting to change the faild disk.
