Question : Problem: How do I re-flash a working PhoenixBios type prom with an AMI bios back to an Award bios?
Hello Experts,
I have a working system (not mine) that I was re-loading XP Pro today and noticed a discrepancy in the board type/model and the current running bios type/version. I was going to look for a bios update.
The board is an ECS PM800-M2 rev 1.0 as per the silk screening on the board and the tag on the parallel connector.
But, the bios string on boot up tells me it's a Soyo board using American Megatrends Inc. bios type.
BIOS Type: AMI
BIOS Date: September 22nd 2004
BIOS ID: 63-0100-001131-00101111-09
2204-PM800
-P4VM800
BIOS OEM: P4VM800-2AA3 Release 09/22/2004 - 080010
Chipset: VIA 82C259 rev 0
SuperIO: ITE 8705/SiS 950 rev 3 at port 002E
Manufacturer: soyocomputer
Motherboard: P4VM800
So, I compared pictures of both boards from each mfg's site and the ECS PM800-M2 is the correct one. I even checked the flash chip and its actually a PhoenixBios (Award) type, not AMI.
How do I re-flash this PhoenixBios (Award) to the correct bios, meaning the current ECS one (1.2e)?
