Question : Problem: Backup Problem with HP DAT72 USB drive using NTBackup
I am trying to setup my backups using NTBackup (I find HPs software cumbersome at best) and the backups are not running. When I run the backup I get the following error in the log file, "Cannot locate the specified media or backup device. This backup operation will terminate". The events IDs that show up are: 7035: The Removable Storage service was successfully sent a start control. 7036: The Removable Storage service entered the running state. 98: RSM was stopped. And then finally, 7036: The Removable Storage service entered the stopped state. My understanding is that NTBackup will just overwrite any media present so I doubt that is the problem. I can also see the drive is enabled under libraries and it also shows up in device manager (without the exclamation point). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

The Event Viewer events usually have details which will help track down the problem. But those are just saying it was started and stopped. The question is why? NT Backup needs it so it should always be running and I think the failures are due to that.
