Question : Problem: Integrated graphic card and AGP/PCI
|
|
Hi all,
If I installed an AGP/PCI graphic card, I know that CMOS will automatically disable the function on the integrated graphic card.
Is there anyway to go around it if I wanted utilise both the integrated graphic card and the add-on AGP/PCI graphic card to switch between 2 monitors?

MOST systems will not support both the integrated video and an AGP card. The integrated video on modern boards IS an AGP video device -- so when you install another AGP card, that supercedes the onboard device. As noted above, if you simply install a PCI video card, you can usually use both ... however, a much better approach is to simply install a dual-monitor-capable AGP card. There are MANY such cards; they are not expensive; and you'll then have a unified driver that supports both displays (no issues with conflicts between graphics drivers to worry about).
This is a superb value for a dual-monitor card (especially with the current rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130008
... there are many others, depending on the performance level you're looking for.
