Question : Problem: Laserjet 5 + Changing Ip Address
|
|
Hi all
I have a Laserjet 5 printer wich is installed on a lan who is configured with a DHCP. But, my printer doesn't take an Ip address in the network range and so, I can't install it on the computer.
I also have the Mac Address of this printer.
How can I change the Ip address of the printer in order to have a valid IP ? Or can I change it manually ? If yes, how can I do it ???
Thx

Manually is simple enough:
go to http://www.hp.com
Enter as search: (inclusing "'s) "laserjet 5" front panel
It shoud give you HP LaserJet 5, 5M, and 5N Printers - Using the Front Control Panel - bpl02906 - HP Business Support Center It give's a good explenation on how to use the menu.
HP Color LaserJet, Color LaserJet 5 and 5M Printers - Using the Control Panel - bpl02640 - HP Business Support Center gives you a better overview of you menu.
Basicly menu to MIO (or EIO), option to cfg network, value to yes, select, option to TCP (check it's on, could be off if the printer come's from e.g. an old style Novell network), option to cfg-tcp, value to yes, select, and than whatever you like. (You should get the way to work the menu by now)
You can equally wel enter a manual IP address, or configure a manual IP address in your DHCP server and keep the printer on DHCP.
Don't forget to print a configuration report (front panel) to make sure your settings are well recorded.
