Question : Problem: Windows 2008 terminal server is changing the names of user folders

We are getting ready to switch to windows 2008 terminal server. We will have 6 terminal servers running windows 2008. We currently have folder redirection policies in place on our windows 2003 domain. During the terminal server 08 testing we are running into the following issue. I have created four new users... term1, term2, term3, and term4. I logged in as term1 and i see that my folders redirected properly. I have a profile folder called term1 in the profiles folder, and term1 under the user folder on our NAS. When i log on with the other users i created, it is created another term1 folder for the other users. So now i have 4 folders called term1 in my user directory. Also, even though folder redirection has taken place, if i open up word and try to save a document, it defaults to the root of where all user folders are stored instead of in the actual users folder. The my documents folder is redirected correctly as well. Anyone have the same issues?

Answer : Problem: Windows 2008 terminal server is changing the names of user folders

The "renaming" of the folders is a visual effect that depends on the file desktop.ini located in the folder being an issue.
If redirecting documents for each user to parallell folders, you may get similar behavior when explorer treats you to have multiple Documents folders.

The default folder for opening files are managed in Word->Tools->Options->File Locations
