Question : Problem: Minimum power supply unit for Q6600
Hi, I am building a 1u server and would like to know what the minimum psu for a Q6600 would be. The server will be using an Asus P5N32 SLI motherboard probably running 4 sticks of ddr2 667 ram. I will also run a very low end graphics card with no fan on it. Will be running 2 sata hard drives, not sure what type of fans the case has yet, waiting on a sales call.
Would I be able to get away with a 300/400 watt psu, the 1u psu's seem to be quite expensive for the power output.
Answer : Problem: Minimum power supply unit for Q6600
~300 watts + hard drive requirements + approx 20%.
... and make sure the power is on the right rails.
So about [300w+36w] x1.2 = 403.2w ,,, a 400 watt should be fine.
