Question : Problem: amps and volts

i need to know how many amps and volts (VA?) the following pulls:

1.0 ghz amd pc, normal hard drive (non-SCSI)
2.4 ghz intel pc (dell poweredge 400SC), normal hard drive (non-SCSI)
21" Sony Multiscan monitor

just a rough estimate is fine.

i'm wanting to know so i can see whether my apc ups (BACK-UPS ES 500) can handle the battery drain for these 3 items.

it can handle 500VA / 300 Watts.

any input is appreciated.

Answer : Problem: amps and volts

Power consumption:

http://www.macalester.edu/cit/faq/power_usage.html

1GHz AMD cpu 50W http://www.dfi.com/support1/Hot%20Issues/HotAns122.htm
hard drive 20W http://www.storagereview.com/guide2000/ref/hdd/perf/perf/spec/otherPower.html
motherboard 20W
512MB RAM 40W
CDROM 20W

Total 150W AMD system

2.4GHz P4 60W
other components same as AMD system

Total 160W P4 system

21" monitor 135W http://www.backoffice.be/shop/information.asp?pkga=AB4&pkgb=68

150W + 160W + 135W = 445W

Sorry, you're over!  The good news is you can get some fairly inexpensive APC SmartUPS 1400VA units on ebay for under $200.  They weigh about 80lbs, though.
