Question : Problem: HP LaserJet Director Error - Device communication error

I run a HP LaserJet 1200 (1220 actually because it has an add-on scanner) and when ever I have the Printer turned on for printing I will inevitably get a message on my PC screen reading:

"HP LaserJet Director Error

"Device communication error

"Check to be sure that the device is plugged in and try again

"NOTE: You might need to unplug the device and plug it back in".

No matter what I do (clicking OK, turning the printer on, off etc) this message keeps coming back and just will not go away.   The best I can do is move it to the corner of my screen and let it sit there.

For other reasons I have already been through a  Windows re-installation and this has not helped.

I'd welcome any suggestions please.

Answer : Problem: HP LaserJet Director Error - Device communication error

A couple of things.

There have been reports that LaserJet Director has trouble under Vista. Which O/S are you running?

LJD is only required when you need to scan. If you only require printing you can delete it (from the Add/Remove Programs control panel) and just install the printer driver.
