Question : Problem: mouse jumps when typing

When i type my mouse cursor drifts off to the top right hand side of my laptop screen. It is very annoying and is causing me to close programs by accident. I have windows xp.
I saw a solution in your archives that said i should go to "mouse" on the control panel and select the option "disable taps," however i cannot find this option.
Please help, as i have never seen anything like this before, and don't know what to do.

i would try another mouse first - it can simply be bad.
if possible try a ps/2 mouse, or usb mouse for testing
