Question : Problem: ArcServe will not scan or merge from tape. Asks for the same tape to be inserted.

Hi,

I am trying to merge or scan a tape in arcserve. I can see the tape name, ID and sequence number in the device manager window.

I select Utilities/Scan, and then select the group and the tape and click start. Arcserve then asks me to insert the very same tape that is in the drive, name ID and sequence are identical.

Please help.

Answer : Problem: ArcServe will not scan or merge from tape. Asks for the same tape to be inserted.

I couldn't find a quick initialization check box in the device config, but I did discover that the tape drive was not assigned to tape raid0. It appears to be scanning fine now.
