Question : Problem: appointments made with mobile device not updating free/busy schedule
|
|
In my environment we are using Exchange 2003 with outlook 2003. I have a user that recently purchased an iPhone. The iPhone was configured to synch with the users mailbox. However if the user enters an appointment into their calendar on the iPhone and then synchs the calendar with their mailbox, the appointment appears on their calendar, but that appointment is not registered with the free/busy scheduler, Is this just another case of Steve and Bill not getting along? or is there a fix for this? Any suggestions/guidance, as always is greatly appreciated.

Oh, If you do have the proper configuration to allow IMAP access to the public folders, or the iPhone does indeed support IMAP referrals (which I cannot verify) you can enable the IMAP clients to access the public folders by doing this procedure. NOTE: IMAP access to public folders is an all or none deal, and does not follow any permissions set on the public folders. So if you have private folders that are restricted using permissions in the public folders, the IMAP clients will get those too.
Open Exchange System Manager Expand the Administrative Groups node Expand the First Administrative Group node Expand the Servers node Expand the node for the Exchange server that will be configured Expand the Protocols node Expand the IMAP4 node Right click on the Default IMAP4 Virtual Server and select Properties Select the General tab Check Include all public folders when a folder list is requested Click Apply and then OK
Hope this helps, maybe the iPhone will be able to update the Free/Busy data if it has access to the Public Folders.
