Question : Problem: What is a good solution for remote users to access central applications?

Hello:

Our main office is in Barcelona and we have an additional office in Madrid.  We have a VPN setup and broadband. We have implemented Goldmine CRM and we also have a centralized ERP. Right now our users connect to the ERP through Windows Terminal Sercice and they connect to the CRM using GO-Global to another server. What we want is for them to connect to a centralized area, one server and launch the applications there. The problem with what we have setup is that they can't print or save docs directly, now with GoGlobal they can from there. We don't like Go-global because it offers a limited CRM and doesn't let them use Crystal reports. We were looking at PCanywhere and mypc.com but I don't think that is the right route.

Can anyone offer any advice or suggesions? It is appreciated.

Regards,
Joseph

It sounds like a good solution for you would be to use Citrix.  You can setup a number of servers to be in what is called a Farm, and then you can customize what users can access.  Such as just your CRM software, to a complete desktop with the approriate software their allowed to use.  This would allow for flexiabilty on different levels.  This will also allow your users to print to their local printers.  Citrix will create a share back to their printer(s).

You can configure that they use a client connection or can access your Citrix Farm via a web browser as well.

NOTE: The printers your users work with must be supported under terminal service in order to function properly.

Hope this helps.
