Question : Problem: Dell Vostro 400 - need to convert to RAID from IDE.  ShadowProtect?  True Image?  Goback

I set up a dell vostro 400 with 2 hard drives as raid 1.  at least I am 99.9% sure I set up the raid, saw the drive status as members, etc.  then we installed go back 4.  now the user is saying he doesn't see the mirroring and doesn't remember having it.

so I look in the bios - the sata drives are set to IDE, not raid as I thought.  I change it to raid, reboot and of course, it doesn't boot.  Takes some playing after changing back to IDE to get it to boot again.  try true image and it says it's a goback drive and not supported.

anyone have ideas on how to convert ide drives to raid and keep the data?  Shadow protect supposedly will do alternate hardware?  So (uninstall goback?), use shadowprotect to back up the hard drive, make it a RAID array and then use shadow protect to restore the data?  done?

any issues with this?

thanks!

SOunds OK, Any good imaging software ( Ghost, Acronis etc ) should be fine after removing the goback.

make sure you follow the Goback uninstall correctly ( Check the Symantec Site ) as there have been issues sometimes.

I hope this helps !
