Question : Problem: Dual Monitors on G4 running Mac OSX Tiger - how to?

Greetings all.

I'm a PC tech with a Mac user that needs dual output enabled. I'm stumped to get this working.

Hardware: Mac G4 with dual outputs on one (1) video card - VGA + ADC, (2) Sony G520 21" monitors, (1) ADC to VGA adapter

Problem: I followed the instructions found here - http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-3130.html - BUT, under System Preferences > Display there is no button present to "Detect Displays." Where did that button go? Why won't the dual output video card detect a 2nd display? Currently, the same desktop is being displayed on both monitors. We would like to span the desktop to create more space.

Thanks in advance,

Eugenio

What's the model of your Mac?  Some Mac doesn't support extended desktop which is what you want.  Some only supports video mirroring.  You have to let us know the exact model of your Mac so that we can check out which video card is in it.
