Question : Problem: Treo 700 won't sync using HotSync on Windows XP Pro

I've got a Treo 700 I'm trying to install onto a Dell laptop running Windows XP Pro to where he can sync with his Outlook/Exchange. I've installed these things before but I cannot get this one to do a sync during or after the installation of the software. We re-built his laptop 2 weeks ago and he just told me today that he's been unable to sync since we re-built his laptop.

He had installed ActiveSync on his own trying to get it to work but I uninstalled that and downloaded the Palm Desktop software from PalmOne and installed that but no good so far - still can't get the device to sync. Tried playing with the HotSync settings (Local,USB, etc.) but no good. Thanks for any helpful suggestions for a solution.

1) try using a new user profile that is clean.

lots of issues with corrupted data in profiles, especially after installing/ uninstalling.

Also if required, test on another machine.
