Question : Problem: Hard drive dropping from RAID
I have 4 300GB SATA HDD's on a RAID-0 (will be switching back to RAID5 soon...).
Anytime that there are not reads or writes to one of the disks in the array (Device 1), the drive show's up as an orphan. I have to either reboot, or unplug and replug in my SATA data cable from the drive.
I moved from a RAID5 to the RAID0, and it went fine for a day or so. Then these problems came about. As far as I know, while it was RAID5'ed, the disk was fine. However, I have never checked, so I cannot be certain.
When the disk goes down, the entire drive disappears from Explorer and from the device manager. The controller is still listed.
I have checked the disk extensively for errors, with no luck.
My System:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
1 x 74GB Raptor (C:)
3 x 74GB Raptor (D:) RAID0 (RocketRaid 1540 PCI Board)
4 x 300GB Seagate (E:) RAID0 (Intergrated Sil3114)
2GB RAM
2 x 6800 GT's
2 x CD Burners
650W Power Supply
Before switching from RAID5 to 0, the drive never disappeared (however, due to the nature of RAID5, it doesn't necessarily mean that the drive was online the whole time).
Any ideas on what they heck is wrong?
I have tried:
Switching power and data cables to a different drive
Updating to the latest Sil3114 Drivers
Updating system BIOS
Downgraded Sil3114 drivers to 2 previous versions
- Cannot downgrade System BIOS
The smart tools available for free cannot peak into the RAID array, so no status there.

Oddly, the drive in question is the E drive, not D, however, it is in fact listed as Disk 1 in my Disk Management console.
Thanks in advance!
