Question : Problem: Intel, Motherboard, DP965LT, Compatible Video Card
I just received a new MOBO to replace an old failing one. The new board doesn't have on-board Video, but I did find a card in my salvage parts box that I'd like to use if it's compatible. The trouble is, all I know is that the card says "Diamond" and has one of the "shorter" AGP connectors on it. It looks like it will fit in the AGP slot on the MOBO but doesn't occupy the whole slot. I don't want to sacrifice a brand new mobo just to save money. The machine is a server so I don't need a lot of video horsepower, especially since I remote into it 99% of the time. There is a part number on the card; P/N 28030531-001 but I couldn't find any information on Diamond's web site.
I guess the bottom line question is whether I can use this card in the new mobo without frying the mobo, or if anyone has any recommendations for an inexpensive video card that will work. I really haven't kept up with the latest video hardware tech since I usually don't work with it...so if I sound like an idiot, you're correct...LOL!
Thanks,
Jon
