Question : Problem: Laserjet printer printing black on left side of page.

I have a client that has a Laserjet that is printing solid black along the left side of a page.  I had him change the toner cartridge just to see if that was the problem, but nothing has changed.  Does this sound like a bad drum?  Would a maintenance kit fix this?  Or could something else have changed that would cause this?

Answer : Problem: Laserjet printer printing black on left side of page.

Check that the transfer roller is installed correctly. If it is sitting at a slight angle you might get this problem. Failing that, I would replace the transfer roller. This is probably part of the maintenance kit (the other parts include the fuser and probably various feed rollers). The transfer roller is a black roller that contacts the drum when the cartridge is installed. It lifts the toner off the drum and transfers it to the paper.

This problem would not be caused by the fuser, and the drum is part of the toner cartridge, so you have already replaced it.
