Question : Problem: PLEASE HELP RECOVER LOST DATA

I have upgraded my system from an IDE oriented motherboard to a SATA-support motherboard, and in the process, got my old IDE - HDD(ST380215AS - Seagate Baracuda 7200.10) into an extrenal casing so that i could access my previous data using the USB ports.

As soon as i connected the Cased - HDD, my machine did not detect the Drive; this lead me into playing around with the 'Jumper' Configuration as per the suggested pin-configuration diagram drawn on the HDD. In this process i once tried switching the 'jumper' to the option for "Convert the Capacity to 32 GB" and then the HDD got detected, but the machine prompted me to Format the drive, and unfortunatelly i accpted the prompt and, now i have access to only 32 GB of HDD, without the old data.

Please help me get hold of my old data ... please
