Question : Problem: Vertis exec v8.60... now i need to re-install
|
|
i work in a school and have 2 servers running windows 2000 only 1 (the one that went down) was a domain controllor. i backed up to a tape (dds4 drives ar hp i think!) using backupexec v8.60. i then wiped the hard drive, installed 200 server again and now need to restore the backup tape. how do i do this is my question. i did do a full backup which should of included everything!
as i have wipped my hard drive, vertis no longer sees in the restore tab or wizard the media. so is and how would i let vertis or another programe know that the tape in the drive is the one i want to restore from and then get it to do it.
can it also replace the winnt folder??

Hi. First I suppose you mean Veritas (not Vertis) BackupExec
- Install your BackupExec v 8.60 (if not done allready) - Make sure Backup exec can find your tape drive - Open BackupExec - Insert the tape you want to restore from. - Go to the 'Devices' tab - Expand the tree so you can se the tapedrive - Right click an choose 'invetory' (checks which meadia is in the drive) - Right click and choose Catalog.
Now that last step will after it completes make the tape accessible for use in the 'Restore selections' tab.
Good luck //yin
